Curious: how far ahead of travel do you book your lodging + flights/rental cars?

I’m so used to doing it 48 hours out or less and my friends are like wtf Ang.

Whats reasonable? A week? Months?

earlier the better. i was hoping to travel to see the eclipse next month, but i never booked and now it's way more expensive and i'm having second thoughts
