Better or worse than the 200+ million killed by religion? https://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/33tofh/how_many_people_have_been_killed_in_the_name_of/

Isn't communism just an economic religion?
true, but they repress that truth by nitpicking: „we don‘t have a god“
Many of those events were primarily political. It also lumps all religions together, religion is not a monolithic thing. That list literally conflates Nazism, Christianity, and Aztec religion.
Mao was in office for 33 years, and killed at least 40MM people, which is 1.2MM people per year. Assuming that list above is accurate, 195MM people over 2,000 years (let's say) comes to 97k/year. Of course you have to adjust for population size, but that's still 12x the rate.
Hell no, it isn't
not the same comparison, you should compare one religion’s body count to communism since communism is just one political ideology. the more accurate comparison should be religion’s body count vs political ideology body count (democracy, communism, socialism, libertarianism etc).
I believe this is a very complex argument that can’t be generalized. Each case has many sides of different stories.
From my opinion though, even in case of a war, God’s limits can’t be ignored and it’s important to be ready for peace as advised in the Quran.
However, as injustice overcame this world, peaceful measures couldn’t lead to a change or bring balance in favor of the weakest whose rights were intentionally neglected just to make the rich richer. So there is no alternative except the use of power (in a sense a war) because tyranny, abuses and injustice have gone too far, don’t you think?
