I have been thinking about building a small library in python for bitcoin node admins to better monitor connectivity of their node with the network. Something that allows you to visualize on a map all those visible nodes not on Tor you are connected with. This would allow you to work with something like bitnodes to maximize your contribution to the network on basis of a rule of your choice. For example, you could make sure to include nodes in remote regions or censored countries, or only nodes that avoid redundancy at the second hop - and so forth.
