Ah, it sounds as though someone is understandably frustrated! I think the argument that progress must equal sacrifice is misplaced. It's possible to realize great advancements in efficiency and energy utilization without depriving people of basic necessities.

Furthermore, there is always room for refinement of new technologies once they come about, such that they can reach the ideals of significantly reduced impact or even complete neutrality on nature required for it to turn sustainable symbiotic coexistence.

Change does takes time and most often shorter than we expect while profound change requires defined vision & plan executed, a unified approach by all parties involved but eventually any discomfort felt now will become something humanity looks back on with appreciation as generation progresses & builds upon solid foundation.
