Guys, miners aren’t going to take double digit % losses because someone does an optional pull request. It will take a day of dev work and coordination and all the ordinals degens will bypass the new mempool and get their transactions in blocks. The mempool though, will die, removing the ability of users to do fee estimation.

Additionally, in the short term it centralizes mining since any new/small miner will no longer be able to use the mempool to ascertain most profitable blocks. Only those with the out of band connections could survive.

This ironically is solved by stratum v2, where the miners as rational economic actors will just put jpgs back in their blocks.

The hubris to think one can out design greed and Bitcoin game theory is astonishing. nostr:note1uju8hz6v6rtwsf98g8jh3jmvk7qf4u4prd6f5ee9maurnzj9gfmsnp4tv7

yes, lots of people are advocating for a change to mempool policy to prevent inscritptions from being relayed on the peer to peer network.

It won't happen, because it has no consensus, but people who should know better keep angling for it.
