Went to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago a few years back and watched a lion walk in a circle 8 for 10 minutes. He had been doing that for quite awhile because that path was burned into the grass. You could tell he was totally defeated.
Yea that always breaks my heart.
I’ve noticed that behavior mostly in carnivores, while the herbivores seem content as long as they have friends and plenty of food
