That sucks, main reason I'm here is to avoid all that BS. I won't use it. That's the way it starts. If someone here doesn't wanna see certain post they are free to make their own decision and mute. They can piss off.
Just go to Security Filters and disable anti-spam from strangers. Or follow the person. Every client has active filters.

Mute button would work in such cases
Feel free to disable the filter and manually mute everyone. No one likes that manual work. That is how people did before the filter. This is especially true in chats, marketplaces, live streams etc. You don't want to be seeing a bunch of spam and having to clean up every now and then when a spammer comes in.
Shouldn't be auto muting a person when there's still mastodon bridge spam trying to scroll through hashtags
