Definitely good to experiment without booze. I did a sober January with a buddy. Then we extended it a month, then another month as a competition.

I will say.. by month 3.. we both realized we were performing at 300% of our baseline.

After that 3 month trial it extended to 11ish months or so and I got back into drinking for a bit. But ever since I saw behind the curtain of alcohol free life, I knew that I would happily be back there for good.

Had I not taken that break and made a challenge with my buddy, I’d probably still be drinking every Friday and Saturday.

Good point, and very impressive. Really useful to check one’s relationship with the grog every now and again. Checking whether it is a routine and something that adds positively to your life and relationships.

Not wanting to get too woo woo, but good to reflect and as an added bonus, my sleep routine’s been pretty good this January which I likely not uncorrelated (sorry for double negative) with cutting out the booze

Absolutely! It’s funny talking to my friends that still drink..

they’re like “but what do you do at night???” Sleep. 😂

I definitely had a lot of fun drinking. I still think it’s the best way to connect with new people. Not drinking is also fun! In a different way.
