wouldn’t we move and innovate faster, if we had more devs working on less clients?

just something i’ve been pondering about these last couple of days

Some people told me a client is an experiment, to know better about nostr coding

yeah, that’s a good point 💜

just because somebody wants to tinker on something on their own, doesn’t mean they want to part of a big project

Permissionless development ➡️ lots of ideas, lots of experiments

definitely 💜

👍🏻

I have my own client, so I can tinker.

faster ain't always better

momentum matters tho

yes to some degree.

look at snort social and iris merger as an example.

but competition is healthy and devs often dont agree and especially in visual want creative power.

a better solution is more devs and contributions in general. get active on github curating issues, add to existing any personal insights, find and cross reference duplicates, update documentation (text, screenshots, translations).

if people spent 20 minutes a day doing the above (and learning how is doing), wed make far more progress then rehashing in nests and notes.

wish there was some sort of a positive feedback + reward loop for submitting issues on github, right now it’s just being a good Samaritan 💜

Thats what all FOSS development is.

The positive is attribution, which is enough for some.

Its like planting the seed of a tree, nurturing it but knowing youll never live to benefit from its shade.

yeah… i’d love to help out different projects full-time, but when you are not even sure if you have enough to eat the next day, then it’s tough

i'm not sure what to say, first feed yourself. i can also advise: stick to something you already have experience in if you are on the bones of your arse. and third point: bitcoin meetups can be a good place to find contacts that could lead you to work, a lot of bitcoiners are entrepreneurs and finding good workers is hard.

it can also build towards paid work ultimately.

there is bounties for fairly simple tasks and some projects offer rewards for bugs found if they turn out to be big ones with monetary impact.

many of the devs in this space are just web devs and they are relative beginners, and have usually been fairly strictly directed when they were working on projects.

everyone starts somewhere. i am grateful for the people doing this work as they keep learning and providing
