I’m about to install Debian. I have my usb drive flashed. In the videos I watched. There is a screen that asks about whether you want to install gnome or some other desktop. But there is also options for

web server

ssh server

Should I select both of those?

Going to be a bitcoin and Lightning node pc.

I did the ssh server to be able to ssh remotely

Yeah that’s what I was thinking about but I didn’t know if web server was necessary too.

no webserver needed for Bitcoin node..

definitely ssh server..

Web server is not necessary for anything? I was pretty sure about ssh already.

Doing it the hard way i see?

Trying not to make it too difficult.

#MyNode! You wonr have to deal with of this. Just xreste the usb stick, plug it in and go!!! Its debian too!!!

I want to be able to remotely manage it. But don’t you use Debian and mynode? I’ll probably end up doing that because of ease of use.

You don't need a desktop environment either.

Just console is fine.

Like type in terminal type set up? I don’t know if I’m advanced enough

Check this video, this is how I did it.

It'll help you.

You don’t need a web server. You’ll probably want ssh. SSH will let you remotely manage it.

First time with Linux?

Yeah. Videos and help from you guys!

Once you get bitcoin running and synchronized, check out Fulcrum.

It uses another 100GB or so of disk space for its indexes, and takes a day or so to sync too, but it is a super fast electrum compatible server that makes mempool.space run great and is a great electrum server to point wallets like Sparrow and various mobile wallets at.

You run just bitcoin core? Where do you get Fulcrum from?

Yeah, I just run bitcoin, Fulcrum, and mempool.space right now. Still haven’t dug into running my own lightning node yet, but I will eventually.
