If things didn't pan out like they have, you wouldn't have see the boost in adoption so quickly.
The State coming to Bitcoin is horrifically bad news. The State corrupts everything. To get massive tradFi adoption it will make BTC very effectively part of the tradFi world and subject to the same regulations, control, rent-seeking, and restrictions of financial freedom. Wishing for and supporting that is suicidal.
