They are Social Democrats. So progressive in the left sense, with gay marriage and everyone paying taxes that then covers school, healthcare, and such.
They're generally techy people, so they have common sense and do what works. They don't transition kids and they didn't have lockdowns. The guy in charge of that part in the beginning went with the logic of flock immunization, but he quit after too much backlash.
Swedes follow suggestions pretty well, so they don't need to make things law for people to submit. At least as long as it's somewhat reasonable.
But it's very government led. You have to go to school until 9th grade. And you can only buy alcohol at a state owned store that's open week days until 6pm or something.
Pharmacies used to be government run but got released for public ownership some years ago.
