I have to say, #Nostr is quite user unfriendly. It will never catch on widely in its current state. That's not to say it isn't valuable, or can't improve.
The relay management situation is a real problem.

Welcome :) You could say it's by (unintended) design. There is a lot of stuff to be build and figured out yet ;) It has no roadmap. It's a protocol which has to be "worse" in a certain way. It's not a protocol to do everything the "right" way.
