Stars are for zap splits with one tap zaps. A gold star means you are giving an additional 100% of your zaps to will/damus.
Using the word “splits” here makes it a bit difficult to understand. The full zap amount goes to the content creator while an extra amount goes to Damus.

The idea donating zaps to the contributors at the same time you use the feature makes a complete sense to me. How do I set up my account for it? Right now I have set up my account with lnurl that I obtain from my WoS account

Colors spectrum based on how much extra % of your zaps go to Damus. Blue -> Purple (50%) -> Gold (100%)
