Yes! I record, produce, and mix my music in my basement “studio,” but that doesn’t mean it’s free: I pay for all my studio equipment (some is subscription/rental, so an on-going cost) & pro feedback. Other artists pay for studio rental, producers, recording and mixing engineers, session musicians, etc.
And I pay a pro mastering engineer & artists to do the artwork.
Then there are the legal fees associated with business licensing & copyright registration. It adds up fast!
