but this link doesn't explain what is a mint. i understand it uses the lighting network but i dont get the difference of just using walletofsatoshi for example
Honestly there is probably not a lot of differences. You could look at the sats in WoS as tokens from their mint. If the mint is gone your Sats are gone.
