The standard will be determined by adoption. If more people do this, this will be the standard. Will you just not use Bitcoin with merchants who display totals this way?

Even the standards for symbology are a free market with something like Bitcoin. No one can enforce anything. The best will win out. Unfortunately, I don't think that's sats. Time will tell. I'll likely keep sats in UI I control. I like it.
