I’d push back a bit… not a centralized issue, but a “scoping” issue.

Using facets for searching is as old as every oral and written tradition. Forms the basis of how we understand associative reasoning.

The scope (association) is broken, and Google’s metric didn’t break so much as it showed what happens when facets are so heavily weighed in use that “breaking” actually means “we didn’t teach them how to search, only how to find what they were looking for.

Perspectives will help… as long as comprehension, empathy, understanding, and some auditing skills also become a part of the personality of a person who searches, and the weights of those who build “content management platforms advertising and tracking”

Decentralized and federated platforms/protocols have long had a discoverability issue… Google’s pivot here will highlight just how hard it is to retrain people around how they search/learn/acquire information
