Also on this “Iris, for example, now only accepts events that are within 3 degrees of separation of your social network” - Iris gives you the option for you to decide how many degree of separation you want to use so you can pick N = 3, 4, 5 etc. Iris also implements a web of trust whereby network is based on follows and engagements - and it has solid spam removal (no idea what #hellthread is) and for me only 2-3% reduction of users based on passive users.
