Great for vacations, but horrible to be a tax resident in (if the goal is low bureaucracy, low taxes, strong rule of law, and stable political climate). Is that a good summary?

I couldn’t believe the amount of taxes that Italians pay when I found out. Especially business owners!
Not the only Latin territory like this also, others are insane too, I thought Bulgaria was bad, but its way better these days. Best to try and bypass it by whatever means, even if it's flying to do a big shop on physically small items.
Can you please elaborate on Bulgaria? I thought it was a mellow 10% income tax jurisdiction.
