Wagner Group owns oil fields in Syria and mines in Africa. Wagner also is involved in contracts with the Russian state. That's who pays them lol.
The Wagner Group is a Russian private military company they've been backed by Russia to represent Russian interests but mercenaries will work for anyone who puts the money on the table.
