The way I see it fascism, theocracy, socialism(including national socialism) and communism all are collectivist movements where the individual must work for the ”common good”, and being that, they’re all leftist movements. Just variants of the same theme.
I know that this can seem to be only semantics but I really don’t buy the notion that fascism is a right wing thing.
(When I’m writing this I got to think about Trump, labeled a ”fascist” and a ”threat to OUR democracy”…If he were a ”fascist”, then he’s worst fascist of all time just due to the fact, that he embraces strong states at the expense of federal powers. A true fascist would have done exactly the opposite, more like Biden is doing now, but I digress)
This is largely why I try to avoid using vaguely defined terms like "left" and "right" when discussing politics. Those who refer to themselves as on the right while supporting an authoritarian, collectivist government have nothing to do with the conservative ideals of limited government and personal rights.
