For Amethyst users experiencing bad performance, notifications not appearing, long load times, or a multi-gigabyte cache that keeps growing and won't disappear even when deleting it:

I've had all these issues for like a month or 2 and tried everything, but simply reinstalling was the only fix for me, which I just did.

Before you uninstall, make sure you go to the menu "backup keys", copy your nsec and store it somewhere safely (not in some cloud service or something)

I did it manually and wrote down 2 copies in a notebook, the first one turned out to be wrong so be careful with that as well 😄

After reinstalling, just input your nsec and your nostr experience is back to smoothness.

The developers should work on the UI/Ux

I'd say they are, been here since late 2022 or something and I notice a smoother experience over time, but due to some issue my client wasn't working properly.

Follow-up:

It seems that these problems slowly return over time after reinstalling. Each day the cache size increases and deleting it will immediately return it, also performance is starting to deteriorate again.

Think I'll try out a different client soon.
