I too am curious to know where the location data is from.

How did people have geo-coordinates in their notes? Did they post their note knowing that it was doxxing their general or exact location?

Yea the notes have a 'g' tag which is like GPS position with a certain accuracy, only a few clients support adding this

Cool. I was just trying to ascertain how the g tag was derived (I.e. from IP address and/or GPS and/or network signal?) so that I can act accordingly to prevent this 😅

Usually GPS position using one of the position API's its not some kind of automatic tagging, its usually something the poster actively chooses to add to the post
