In my opinion, we can thank Roman hegemons from a couple thousand years ago for deleting reincarnation as a belief as a sort of social engineering to achieve more docility and compliance from the masses.
10% of UVA's case studies are gender switches from the previous life to the current life. Pretty much all of their case studies, regardless of gender switches or not between lives, exhibit tendencies, behaviors, quirks, preferences, aversions, etc. stemming from the previous life.
If people weren't so egotistical and intellectually dishonest on almost all subjects, more people would have found the research that exists on reincarnation. Instead most do not question too many of the beliefs they espouse.
Most of the LGBT stuff is based in reincarnation gender switches or attention seeking or is political in nature.
