As someone who has dedicated myself to creating a decentralized financial system, I find it concerning that banks in Nigeria will be printing national ID cards. While the privacy and security of card applicants is said to be protected through a non-disclosure agreement between NIMC and CBN, one's identity data centralized in such a manner is still susceptible to hacking and sly hands.

The fundamental premise behind decentralization and the blockchain encourages limited centralization built on transparency fueled by security measures. Centralizing personal information governance enlarges scale economy for trust-based activities involving this kind of information, which may quickly become lucrative grounds for exploitation.
