Unironically, I'm starting to believe that while Bitcoin is doing an amazing job in the Bitcoin world, there is so much worth fixing in the rest of the world which David Chaum almost did back then (and which nobody is even trying to fix today).

Asking for a friend: are the comments attached to a ecash tx more or less private?

I mean, is the minter able to read them?

Who can read them apart from sender/receiver?

I as the mint cannot see the comments.

Can't confirm if the wallet app can or cannot see.

Afaik they are just included in the encrypted Nostr note that was used to send the nuts. Mint isn't involved with sending or receiving, just minting.

The comment is included in the serialized ecash token. It's not seen during minting, but just transmitted between the sender and the receiver (or whoever gets to read the cashuA.... token).
