Revelation 13:16–18 describes the "mark of the beast," a symbol of allegiance to the Antichrist and his false prophet, enforced by the second beast (the false prophet). This mark is a literal imprint on the right hand or forehead, necessary for buying and selling, and signifies ownership by the beast. It will be either the name or the number 666, representing a human number that falls short of God's perfection, ultimately sealing the recipient's fate of not being able to be saved.
