I like the message but I think it’s very mentally taxing to make a conscious time optimization decision. Our biology just isn’t built for doing this, we can make these decisions sometimes but most times we fall back into our default habits.

For example, the times when I find myself scrolling on my phone are often these in between moments of the day when I’m feeling hungry and sleepy at 4pm. If I nap now, I know it’ll disrupt my circadian rhythm and I’ll regret it later. I ordered some UberEats and it’s 20 minutes away so I have to wait for it before I can solve my hunger.

These moments happen very often, and it’s not so much about big tech robbing me of my time but rather logistical inefficiencies. Yes perhaps they can be solved with better planning but planning every single day means you’re not really living.

The transjective value of both of these proposals is where we want to live :)
