I agree. I’m not against compromises that don’t violate the principle. So long as it really doesn’t.

In governmental warfare (against a malevolent state) they would be susceptible to EMP, etc. though. It’s worth a thought.

EMP only a problem for long wires or close range. Even unhardened electronics can handle more ionising radiation than a human body.

My fears are condensation, dust, or flat batteries at the moment I really need it.

Yeah, this should absolutely be an airgapped system. Updates should require manual intervention of the gun owner.

And you know my policy? If it ain’t broke, I ain’t updating mission critical hardware.
