On this day, we remember Saint Emilian of Durostorum.

When the judge asked Emilian his name and rank, he declared himself a Christian and shattered the idols. Enraged, the pagans beat him mercilessly. The governor, learning of Emilian's act, ordered him to be burned alive. As the flames consumed him, Emilian gave up his soul to God.

O Holy Emilian, pray to God for us and guide us to defend our faith with courage!
