I spend alot of time on X. Strickly lurking. Very few posts. This is because I was a little vocal prior to Elon Musk's purchase of th company. Also, my 'government' had the ability to have me deleted from the old Twitter.

Hi🙋🏻‍♂️. Welcome to #Nostr.

100% government proof! You're not logging onto a centralised website, you're using a protocol, of which, there are many clients. #Introductions.

Almost entirely.

Your identity (npub/nsec) follows you from client to client, app to app. If one client bans you (which is highly unlikely in the first place considering the ethos here), you can simply jump to another and your entire history, posts, followers etc come with you there as if nothing happened.

If similar problems happen to relays (bans or govt takedown etc) then you simply add a different relay (or just use multiple relays to begin with) and you're back on the network as if nothing had happened.

You wield in your hands the power of decentralized systems.

VERY

Saying anything online has consiquences because saying anything at all has consiquences.

That said, here there is no CEO or board, there is no centralized server, there isn't only one onramp, there isn't the limitation of only going through walled garden app stores, and there is no way to delete content.

It isn't completely immune from government intrusion or overreach, but it is much harder to kill, harder to censor, and harder to manipulate.

On nostr you can tell your government to fuck the fuck off!

I guess I can, and I normally would, but the're getting a bit 'totalitarian' lately. Riot police and other.
