Oh, did that work? We're probably going to need this #[4] because the #[5] is still hosted. (As is mine 🙈).

I think we have to move to self-hosted by October.

I’ve been procrastinating it for some time now. I should receive a RaspberryPi 5 soon with some other hardware to run a LN node.

Can't we run one on the remote server and share it?

A Bitcoin node would also be kinda cool.

Or is there a legal/technical reason why that is a dumb idea?

It’s not dumb, but it’s also less feasible on the remote server.

I would personally rather have all Bitcoin stuff on hardware we can control.

Also, it would require a lot of disk space.

Ah, okay, cool. Yeah, the server could just disappear again, or get frozen by German authorities.

Exactly. Plus, the whole point of running a node is independence from anyone who isn’t me.

I wonder if we could make money on a LN node. Nobody seems to be able to. 😂

yeah, probably not, i think you have to be running big channels to high traffic nodes to catch enough fees, and your fees have to be equal or less than alternative paths

Hmm. Might be interesting, at some point.

idk, i think it's enough to have your own path in and out from the edge, that has value of itself

yeah, alby hub works nice, i guess it probably won't be hard to run it yourself also

I’ll look into it

Thank you!

We have so many different personal npubs, and the project address, that it makes sense to run one ourselves. Also a NIP-05 server, so that we all have matching @gitcitadel.com handles.
