People might not know there are costs to running a Relay and the one time payments one are shutting down left and right because they can't keep up with the costs.

Monthly subs for a relay is the only way but what are people comfortable with paying monthly ?

It will all come down to how much it adopted and user count but does 1k sats sound reasonable per month ?

That's about $0.30 USD currently.

For Nostr to really explode it needs to be reliable and fast so paid relays are where it's going to start.

Agreed but making it easy to know when to top up is important. Also I think having low cost is better. More users for cheaper rather than less users and more expensive.

Agreed , the goal will be to get as many users as possible and the more users the cheaper it will become.

If we can have these relays fast and reliable and most importantly as cheap to the end user as possible it brings adoption much faster.

Cost of the monthly subscription wouldn't be to make money , we only want the best we can make and have people help support so we can grow this into the monster it deserves to be.
