What's the easiest/cheapest way to send Sats to Alby? I have my own node. Is it worth opening a channel to Alby's node you think? Or just send the Sats?
Discussion
I havent thought about this much, i just send small amounts regularly from my own LN node directly to my alby wallet. I would like to connect alby directly to #myNode, unfortunately, I have it running behind vpn+tor so I'm experiencing some obstacles including using alby on tor browser.
Yeah, Tor has been a real pain the last few months. imo it's because of LN.
Darthcoin was saying there is a solution in the works. I still use lnd+tor, but Zeus with lnc makes the node connection much smoother.
i think tor is not the issue for me but getting alby to pair to my node wallet through to browser extention rather.
Here's the screencap, good idea if it works out.

i dont understand what this is about
Tor is under strain, I said that LN needs it's own Tor or I2P solution, Darthcoin said someone is working on it.
It would be like Tor, but for LN only, so not "borrowing" others connections.
agreed! I can run my node and transactions over tor without issue, but i cannot pair my alby tor extension to my LN Node
Unless you're going to do a lot of business with the party on the other side of the channel, it's not worth opening a channel for. Alby runs it's own channels.
If you really want control, look into running Zeus with your lightning node.
Zeus seems to crash everytime i try to connect it to my node from any device.. I am having better luck with ZAP wallet on mobile. connect to own node and control own node from mobile. strangely enough ZAP crashes on linux desktop after self-upgrading. So I use alby and RTL with #MyNode for desktop, and ZAP for mobile, until i discover a better setup.
Which backend are you using?
Local IP or Tor?
Tor
You might want to try out Lightning Node Connect in the Lightning Terminal app on MyNode. It's far more reliable than Tor.
