The shadow of a person embedded in stone.

The stone staircase in the picture is the entrance to a bank in the city of Hiroshima. A man was sitting on the steps, waiting for the bank to open, but he never got the chance to enter the bank because shortly after, an atomic bomb was dropped in that area, resulting in his immediate death. The heat turned the surrounding stones white, but the spot where he sat remained dark, resembling an unchanging shadow over time.
