The shocking decline of US life expectancy is tragic & symptomatic of just how broken our system is. This doesnโ€™t happen in a functioning state, let alone in the โ€˜worldโ€™s great power.โ€™

Yet itโ€™s happening and our disastrous current policies are not allowed to be questioned; our populace is ๐Ÿ˜ด as profound geopolitical shifts take hold.

Rather morbidly, the collapse of the USSR shows us how much worse things can get.

Life expectancy for Russian men went from the *high 60s in 1990 to the mid 50s* by mid decade.

Think about that for a second; of how much death it takes to drop the average lifespan more than a decade, that quickly - mostly the result of deaths of suicide, violence, or overdose.

The mortality rate for men hit 480 out of every 1,000.

When systems collapse it is gruesome. It must be prevented at all costs.

In the late Soviet era, World Bank estimates indicate ~1.5% of the population was living in poverty (defined as income < $25 per month).

By mid-1993 between 39%-49% of the population now lived in poverty.

Both can be true:

- Americans have no idea how good we've had it as world reserve currency issuer, unipolar global hegemon.

- Things are F'd bc of our parasitic permanent political class wielding this power for their sole benefit.

But things are unravelling and accelerating ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I'm increasingly concerned we've done all the wrongs things

- print unlimited money, bail out banks, attack vs embrace bitcoin, weaponize the dollar abroad, force our adversaries to join forces, prolong proxy wars, sow internal division within ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

and that the bill is soon due.

Obviously dissent from the neo(con)-liberal coerced consensus continues to be punished.

But w each 'current thing' the population wakes up from (due to reality intervening) the spell loses power.

That our elites are leading us to ruin; โณ is running out https://twitter.com/milessuter/status/1446848478265495558?s=20

Iโ€™ve been a fan of Milesโ€™ Twitter threads for a while now. Happy to see one on nostr.
