In Persian the word God is "Khoda" which is the combination of the 2 words "khod"(self) and "A" (come). put together :"come to self" aka know thyself.

There's much emphasis on knowing oneself through dynamic meditation which is known as Samaa - whirling dance- in Persian Sufism.

Even in ancient meditation techniques such as Vipassana the core idea is self awareness by practicing silent meditation.

Knowing yourself is about identifying what matters to you, your strengths and weaknesses, your behaviors, tendencies, and thought patterns.

Even now as an spiritual agnostic, I can’t really define what God is, I’m not even sure what to call it, Jesus, Buddha, Bhagwan, Yahweh or Allah or the Cosmos. One thing I’m pretty sure is daily practice of meditation is essential to knowing yourself better, regardless of ideology and belief. This is the only way out of misery.

Buddha is not God, or a god. Buddha is a teacher. The word buddha means fully enlightened

In regards to knowing thyself, the first discipline in 'The Art of War' written by Sun Tzu is KNOW YOURSELF, KNOW YOUR ENEMY

That book is a quintessential guide followed by most world leadersi
