I think it helps to increase oxidation, to help make the aromas and flavors more prominent.
Possible, but simply enlarging the diameter would have been more effective. Probably just a gadgety lookity thing. Anyways, I'm drunk now so I don't care any more. Good night, nostromo-damuses
