The ultimate goal in life is to have nothing to complain about.

Some will die complaining.

Energy vampires. Boring people with their complaints

Energy vampires are indeed quite real. ๐Ÿ‘€

Way too real ๐Ÿ‘€

Do not grumble,โ€ St. Benedict tells his monks. (RB 4:39)

The first time he mentions this is in the fourth chapter of his rule for monasteries.

He goes on to address grumbling, murmuring, or complaining in another eight chapters of the rule. Why does he mention this issue so many times? Are monks, crotchety, curmudgeonly complainers by nature? Or did St. Benedict know something about human nature? Whether we live in a monastery or a metropolis, we can all learn why we shouldnโ€™t grumble from the โ€œFather of Western Monasticism.โ€

Do Not Grumble: Itโ€™s In Scripture

Actually, St. Benedict wasnโ€™t the first person to tell us, โ€œDo not grumble,โ€ or that we shouldnโ€™t complain or murmur. We can find numerous passages in Scripture telling us something similar. Consider the following, for example:

โ€œDo all things without grumbling or questioning โ€ฆโ€ (Phil 2:14)

โ€œDo not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the doors.โ€ (James 5:9)

โ€œBe hospitable to one another without complaining.โ€ (1 Peter 4:9)

I love this. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I think that if you run out of problems, you will start to seek them out or make up your own.

Iโ€™m not like everyone else.

I think the main sadness when our time comes will come from regrets.

What we could've/should've...

I hear that very often as well. But the choice is there and always have been to live a life without it.

So... the ultimate goal is to come to a state where you complain that there is nothing to complain anout. I see ๐Ÿ˜€

๐Ÿ˜„ Like I said, I'm not like everyone else.
