Just watched Requiem for a dream (2000), directed by Darren Aronofsky. His second movie. It’s about a group of friends in New York who are battling addiction. Must be at least the fifth time I’ve seen it. Excellent movie. Very heavy subject matter. The director found a way to make it look beautiful. The photography is amazing. Definitely not a feel good movie. 9/10 #nodereviews

That movie scarred me when they cut off the arm

It’s so intense man. For me it was what happens to Jennifer Connelly’s character. But all of it. I think the best outcome is the black guy lol

Who is Jennifer I don’t remember the names lol

She did some freaky shit lmao

Yes. To keep riding the dragon 😬

A most definite watch for those who have not seen

Agreed. It’s really good

If you haven't seen Mad God (2021) stick it in your list for when you run out of watches and need some weird 30 year in the making stop motion trip to hell.

If you stuck it through the Feebles this one is way more "artsy" and lacks dialogue.

I’ll add it to the list. Thanks!

I’ve seen it. What needs to be cutoff? And what needs attention in an infected system? It seems like the infected host wants to cut off the cure until recently.

I’m not sure I follow. You mean the theme of the movie?

Sort of. In the movie it’s kindof like gangrene, just gotta cut it off and failing to do so will kill you.

With chokepoint 2.0 it’s like they were trying to cut off the only thing that could bring an end to the addiction of easy money. Sad.

Totally agree. It’s definitely like gangrene. For all of the characters.

Some of us need to take a step back from a poison society and it leads to substance abuse. It needs to be a natural rethrn to health and good will. Some will come back around and some will never recover.

I forgot to add the score of the movie is a masterpiece. It ties everything together perfectly. I should add it to Jellyfin tbh. Beautiful epic music. Quite a few techno producers who made really good remixes of the main theme

Terrible movie... And by that I mean that it's too good at being depressing. I've seen it 3 times and every time it left me in a funk for a few days. Terrible

I get your point 🤣🤣

Ass to ass!

Iconic film

Yes. A classic

Almost too good of a movie. Would’ve been great as a part of the DARE program. A little self indulgent with the pain but an excellently crafted experience.

Last thing you want to do after watching it is trying some heroin 🤣🤣🤣

EXACTLY

Who do you thing is the worst off and the best off at the end of the movie (without spoiling the story)?

Fuuuuck. That’s hard…

I’d say Marion has it the worst because she’s her own worst enemy. The way her arc ends could be the start of a whole new movie that goes even further in a worse direction. The others either plateau or *could* get better. Marion could get help from her rich parents but my guess is they’d just enable her since it’s established that the already pay for her current lifestyle (at least her rent). Marion has no reason or context (ie incarceration) to force her to change or escape her addiction. What she’s willing to do by the end is dark but unfortunately she could go darker. Oof. A sequel would be brutal.

The gf. Yeah that makes sense. What a train wreck of a person!

I would say worst off is the mom (the gf not far behind). And the best off is Tyrone.

I agree. Tyrone could turn things around! The mom is just a vegetable now so I kinda feel like that’s better than Marion’s situation, but then again it’s like major purgatory vibes just growing old as a helpless vegetable. It all sucks!

It’s an incredibly depressing movie when the best off is in the situation that he’s in

🤣 good point

🤣

DARE 🤣

i won the dare essay contest in 5th grade, in rehab at 19 lol

That’s brilliant! 🤣
