Thanks to some analysis from our intern nostr:npub17plqkxhsv66g8quxxc9p5t9mxazzn20m426exqnl8lxnh5a4cdns7jezx0 , according to opt-in AppStore analytics one of the biggest issues with Damus is user retention. 99% of people stop using damus after 6 months.

In the next version we will be looking at ways to get mores users to that “ah ha” moment that gets them to stick around like all of us addicts.

Ideas welcome! Notifications is obviously a big one, but maybe we could make it easier to get people their first sats.

The UX is what keeps me away from Damus. It’s the fastest to retrieve new notes and notifications. It’s also solid to show notes that maybe missing from elsewhere. The rest I find lacking.

Some of the things I have noticed (by heart so sorry for errors/things already fixed):

The notes are not presented in a consistent manner. For example, quoted notes were not shown (only the noteid) and the order is not how it’s structured in the OG note source (when links & images).

Search is very limited.

Basic features are missing that you can find in the other browsers. I would encourage use Nostur as a reference.

The iPad UI is horrible. The notes are stretched across the whole width. Scrolling is not smooth.

There’s so much more but just to give some pointers. Happy to elaborate more and keep up the good work.

PS. I did the Finnish translation of Damus some months back but haven’t seen it implemented.
