Global share of GDP has shifed

1995: G7 44.5%, BRICS 16.9%, REST: 38.2%

2010: G7 34.3%, BRICS 26.6%, REST: 39.1%

2023: G7 29.9%, BRICS 32.1%, REST: 38.0%

While the BRICS now command a greater share of global GDP than the G7 do, the G7 are still far wealthier (51.7% of global wealth versus 24.6% of global wealth). GDP indicates current growth, while wealth is accumulated from historic growth.

Wealth-to-GDP numbers are interesting. The lower the number, the faster the country is growing.

Hong Kong is worst at 8.4 and is an obvious outlier.

The countries below that, in the range from 6 down to 5, include Italy, Spain, Switzerland, USA, New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom and France followed by Canada and Japan at 4.9. These countries are growing slowly.

China is at 4.4 but already has 19% of global wealth. India is also at 4.4 with 3.4% of world wealth.
