Can you run a pruned node on a MacBook over Tor? Is VPN better?

Depends on opsec needs. Tor is good but slower, but I find using Relayable .onion relay not too slow. VPN is more for obfuscation of your IP. Could run Docker containers of strfry on Mac and use SOCKs proxy locally to tunnel to Tor. Combo of VPN/Tor option.

There is Mac version of https://www.privoxy.org to use with Tor. Bad part is most nostr web clients won't work unless enable scripting then can expose true IP easily.

If mean a BTC/Lightening Node then Tor for sure. Misread sorry 🤣

Haha, yes I meant a Bitcoin node — found an old laptop I no longer use and might repurpose it — thanks for the thoughtful replies anyway 😄🙏

If I use Bitcoin core, are there configuration settings within the application to use Tor by default? Or is the browser needed (like for the BitBox wallet app)? Or something else..?

Pretty new to this

Here’s a good config generator.

I believe you need tor running in some capacity. If you’re using it in gui you can use the browser and point to the port (9150?) on your local host.

Awesome, thanks!!
