Thank you for your good intentions. I have been in the space for quite a while and am quite experienced.

Do not recommend Cold card, it uses a proprietary closed source secure element.

You should only trust open source hardware and software.

If you need education on this I can help.

Thank you both! Yes I’m still a beginner so I just want to learn the basics before diving into more complex stuff. I don’t intend to hold a lot of $ on any app!

Sounds good! Welcome and enjoy your journey 💜

I have been around a long while too. nostr:npub132ertlsrunh600cph2au55ssmel2cqdt5mnrpxfand5ych4nmp8q50zmdh got mad at the blatant copying by foundation devices so not allowing people to use code for commercial use. To say you shouldn't use it I think is a stretch. I agree that FOSS is important but coldcard is still a better device than majority out there.

I have noticed that hardcore bitcoiners tend to be not the best at on boarding or talking to new people. I have been guilty of this and I am trying to improve. Throwing to much at people and having slight differences about small things. Recently saw people shaming nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 because he on boarded a wattress in a pinch to Wallet of Satoshi. Bitcoin journey is a marathon not a sprint. I appreciate you though and you are right about the importance of Foss but don't throw too much at new people from my experience I'm guilty of it too. It has turned people off in the past.

One thing bitcoiners are good at is being willing to help and I see the same thing in the Nostr community. Whenever you want to go deeper down the rabbit hole people here like nostr:npub16jknkmh2luflurx2epkj99qyj7v2ut3ew7t2mfd7xxt9jtjku2nsj2gqp0 will give you great resources 🫂
