To point this out raises doubt in the player's mind around their concept of fact & truth. It can be unsettling for them.
That only affects people's ability to convey the information. It doesn't change the fact that you can measure light because it exists, and you can't measure a soul because it doesn't.

Can a scared man perceive his soul?
Yes. The blind man can feel the heat of light on his skin - it's radiation coming from a star across 150 M km of empty space. It exists.
No. A scared man cannot perceive his soul because it isn't there. He will perceive several chemical signals produced by his brain and other organs as a response to whatever is making him scared. Because the chemicals are real, and so is his body.
