Anonymity is to know who is doing a thing. Privacy is to not know what a person is doing.

Example of anonymity: "This person over there is selling water." You don't know who the person over there is but you know that he is selling water.

Example of privacy: "Michael is doing something" You know Michael but you don't know what he is doing.

Bitcoin by default is semi-anonymous but not private. The blockchain knows that you are transacting and knows how much you are transacting.

Monero by default is semi-anonymous and private. The blockchain only knows that you exist and that you may have made transactions.

Yes, the monero blockchain introduces the issue of possible inflation and unauditability. I am 100% agains that and I really hope that it is fixed at some point.

Yes, you can make bitcoin private but that requires extra steps that normies wouldn't be willing to do and in its current state it is possible to loose money if you are not careful.

No, I am not against bitcoin and lightning. I used to run my own lightining node. And earlier today I started syncing the bitcoin blockchain just so I can run a full unpruned node. When the sync is done I'll set up a lightning node again. This time I will keep it as lon as possible online and I will try to not lose sats in fucked up channels.
