It’s funny how lightning is more confusing to people than Bitcoin.
And people find Bitcoin complicated.
😅 we are doomed.

lightning was hard for me to get at first too, and then once i got through the learning curve the light dawned and it opened a whole new pathway in my life at the time
there is analogies that could be used to make it eli5 compliant to explain all these things, and i could probably not do a terrible job at getting something of that started but it really is a sore need in this scene for some people to boil it all down and distill what will help people understand
the simple versions are really simple, but programmers tend to get lost in details because that's their job, without that work, we'd be doomed, but it makes for terrible explanations and documentation
People receive: bitcoins = expensive transactions. lighting = cheap transactions.
And that’s our wrong doing for promoting it this way. When in fact there is so much more nuance to this.
it's very difficult to make an analogy that fits well to how lightning works
but it would be great if someone could sit down and write an explanation that would be like a child's book to start it, just takes a nice analogy
like, something about how each step of the path has a piece of a thing that you need to send to your friend, and you have to go to each stop and pick up the thing and add it to the present to build it - that would be a good starting point
People have been systematically dumbed down, intentionally, by the schools and entertainment.
A way to explain it is like:
Bitcoin layer 1 is the bank and Lightning is like cash money in your pocket!!
It is a good analogy, but people still have no idea why they have to pay onchain fees to move sats from layer 1 to layer 2.
Very few even understand that these are two separate layers.
To explain that one can say, the second layer is used to collect more transaction into let’s say one, so that the fees are payed just once per all the transactions.
If they tell I don’t pay to withdraw cash, tell them it’s a lie! They for sure have a fixed cost on the account or they pay the tx!
