Ignoring the sheeple and various covidians for a second, I think its in part because depending where one lived, it wasn't all that bad the past few years so the full pressure of what was happening to some (like Canada and Australia specifically) wasn't experienced.

Yea, can't really argue that. And yea anywhere can be dangerous. That shit isn't really a concern of mine. Lived most my life in a shitty part of the city I grew up in and spent a lot of time in not so nice areas of Philly. Can't shelter oneself from everything. Just gotta be smart about it.
