i have to admit that the Freedom of Information Act is a rare bright spot in an otherwise dystopian shadowscape of deceit, misdirection, and obfuscation
i can't believe it exists at all, let alone that its requests are consistently honored. at least it's something.
its a program to control dissemination of information and intel gathering on who requested it
I submitted a lot of public records requests back in the day when I was a reporter.
I came to expect that the responses were scrubbed, but the real treasure was when they accidentally included a document or forgot to redact something.
Then you could get the clerk on the phone and say, “Alright, give me the rest of it.” Fun times.
